NEW YORK -- The Yankees acknowledged that their work did not end when more than 100 empty bottles of bubbly were transported from the clubhouse carpet to the recycling bin Saturday, as manager Aaron Boone said that the schedule remains filled with "really important games" as they aim to hold off the Athletics for home-field advantage in the American League Wild Card Game.
They gave one of those contests away on Sunday, after J.A. Happ did his part with five solid -- but uneconomical -- innings. A.J. Cole blew the lead, serving up back-to-back home runs to Tim Beckham and Renato Nunez in the sixth, and the Orioles kept the Bombers in the ballpark for a 6-3 victory in the final regular-season game at Yankee Stadium this season.
