TAMPA — It’s becoming more clear by the day that the Yankees are narrowing down their list of candidates for their open second base spot.
The starting job definitely won’t go to Jace Peterson, which is no surprise because he was the biggest long shot of the five contenders heading into spring training.
This may be a surprise:
Ronald Torreyes seems out of the running, too, even though he’s been a tremendous utility infielder for two seasons and did a good job filling in at second last year when Starlin Castro was on the DL.
