Greg Bird’s despairing forecast: ‘Timetable are pointless’

There’s no telling when Greg Bird might be back.

The first baseman has been out with a torn plantar fascia in his left foot since April 13. He was in a walking boot for two weeks before getting out of it Monday, but he still isn’t close to returning.

“At this point, timetables are pointless,’’ the oft-injured Bird said when asked when he might be ready to rejoin the Yankees.

He said he felt a pop running to first during the game, but had been dealing with discomfort in the foot before. In nine games since his home run on Opening Day, Bird is just 5-for-31 with no extra-base hits, six walks and 13 strikeouts.
