The injuries that have haunted Greg Bird’s Yankees career did not follow him to the Dominican Winter League.
The first baseman made it through his week-long test at the end of October in the Dominican Republic unscathed. Bird and the Yankees wanted to find out if Bird had fully recovered from the plantar fascia tear in his foot that kept him sidelined for all but 10 games of the 2019 season.
According to NJ.com, Bird played in seven games for Gigantes del Cibao and went 3-for-24 with six walks and eight strikeouts. He then returned to Tampa to continue his offseason preparations.
