TORONTO -- Sonny Gray issued a harsh self-assessment following his previous effort, when he stated that the Yankees are the best team in the sport except for the days on which he pitches. The righty stomped back to the clubhouse on Friday realizing his search for better results must continue, having absorbed another early knockout.
Gray was pounded for five runs, including a three-run Justin Smoak homer, and turned the game over to the bullpen after just two innings as the Blue Jays handed New York a 6-2 defeat on Friday evening at Rogers Centre.
