Gleyber Torres was out of the Yankees starting lineup for Tuesday night’s 8-5 win over the Braves with what Aaron Boone described as a recurring tight right hip flexor. The standout rookie second baseman came in for defense in the eighth inning, however, and is expected to start on Wednesday.
“He stiffened up [Monday night] in his hip,” Boone said. “That happens every now and then to him. Kind of a precaution.”
The manager didn’t seem overly concerned and Torres felt better Tuesday.
“It’s something he maintains pretty well,” Boone said.
One of the main obstacles has been cleared for Luis Severino to start in the All-Star Game.
