Gleyber Torres has packed plenty into his two-plus weeks in the majors, from his game-winning home run Sunday to becoming the first position player in the modern era to be on the winning side of 14 of the first 15 games he’s played.
But in addition to helping spark the Yankees’ lineup by hitting .327 with seven runs, three doubles and two homers, Torres also has made a difference at second base.
“Obviously, there has been a lot of talk about the big hits he has gotten, the walk-off homer the other day, but he has been impactful defensively for us,’’ manager Aaron Boone said before Tuesday’s series opener against the Red Sox in The Bronx.
