Giancarlo Stanton snaps HR drought but can’t stop the boos

Not much went right for the Yankees on Friday night, but at least Giancarlo Stanton showed he’s not a lost cause in The Bronx.

Stanton snapped a 50 at-bat homerless streak with an opposite-field shot off Marco Estrada in the third inning of the Yankees’ 8-5 loss to the Blue Jays at the Stadium.

The shot gave the Yankees a 4-2 lead that proved to be short-lived thanks to another bad start by Sonny Gray.

Still, considering Stanton had hit only one homer at home in 43 plate appearances this year heading into the game — with an OPS of just .
