The bat flip pretty much said it all.
On Tuesday, Giancarlo Stanton experienced a Bronxian rite of passage, when a player expected to be great has an awful day and is booed before he is cheered.
Even though Stanton led the major leagues with 59 home runs for the Miami Marlins last year and opened his Yankees career with a pair of home runs in a 6-1 win over the Blue Jays in Toronto last Thursday, his five strikeouts in his first game at Yankee Stadium earned him nothing but a resounding Bronx cheer, despite his team’s win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
