Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton was left out of the lineup for Game 2 of the ALCS Sunday night in Houston.
Stanton was replaced in left field by Cameron Maybin. Manager Aaron Boone hasn’t yet spoken with reporters for his routine pre-game media scrum, so it remains unclear why Stanton was held out of the lineup.
Stanton was limited to just 18 games this season due to a series of injuries, including most recently trouble with his right knee after spraining his PCL.
But Stanton went 2 for 4 with one home run and an RBI during the Yankees’ series-opening 7-0 win.
