NEW YORK — Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton was still smiling about his 300th homer after his team blew a two-run lead in the ninth on Thursday night and lost 8-7 to the Detroit Tigers.
After not homering for 10 games, No. 300 was both a relief and thrill.
“Three hundred is always going to be a huge staple for my career,” Stanton said. When I look back and see the highlights, what happened tonight is going to be in there. Not too many nights you can go out there and say that's going to happen.
