Gary Sanchez picks critical time for ‘special’ defensive play

Perhaps Eduardo Nunez was just taking an extra second to daydream about his days in pinstripes.

Gary Sanchez quickly snapped him back to reality.

In a critical moment — the Red Sox had two on and two out with Andrew Benintendi at the plate in the fifth inning, trailing by two runs — Sanchez rose to the occasion. The Yankees catcher used his cannon of an arm to gun down Nunez, who had wandered too far off second base, to end the threat and send the Bombers on their way to a 4-1 win Friday night in The Bronx.
