ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Al Pedrique, manager of the Yankees’ Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre affiliate, said Tuesday he felt top catching prospect Gary Sanchez was the most major league ready of the players on his roster.
The Yankees brass thinks so, too. Sanchez received his call-up shortly after SWB lost, 2-1, to Lehigh Valley, at Coca-Cola Park.
“I’m hoping that this time I’ll get more playing time. I’m coming in with the attitude that I’ll be ready no matter what. If I’m in the lineup, I’m going to do my best. If not, I’ll stay ready in case they need me late in the game,” Sanchez, who had brief call-ups last season and again in May, said through an interpreter.
