TAMPA — Yankees pitchers and catchers are not required to report to spring training until next Wednesday, but Gary Sanchez is getting a head start on what he hopes to be a bounce-back season.
Though some of his teammates have been taking the field each day this week for informal workouts, Sanchez has been doing his work behind the scenes at the Yankees’ minor league facility. Almost three months after he underwent debridement surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder, Sanchez said Wednesday he is hitting in the batting cage and preparing for the official start of camp.
“I’ll be ready for spring training,” Sanchez told The Post in Spanish.
