NEW YORK -- For the second consecutive game, a Yankees outfielder uncorked a strong throw to cut down a runner at home plate.
Two days after Aaron Judge picked up an assist with an impressive throw against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, Brett Gardner answered the challenge in the Yankees' home opener on Tuesday, coming up firing on Kevin Kiermaier's third-inning flyout to cut down former teammate Rob Refsnyder.
Gardner's strong one-hop strike from medium-depth center field arrived in time for catcher Gary Sanchez to slap a tag on the sliding Refsnyder, completing a double play and keeping the game tied at 1.
