NEW YORK -- Charlie Morton has been tough on left-handed batters this season, but don't tell that to Brett Gardner. The Yankees' outfielder belted his second leadoff home run of the homestand on Tuesday, giving his club a quick 1-0 lead over the Astros at Yankee Stadium.
Gardner jumped on a 1-0, 97.3-mph fastball from the right-hander, slugging it a Statcast™ projected 399 feet over the auxiliary scoreboard in right field. Gardner's third home run of the season came off of his bat at 106.3 mph. It was Gardner's 13th career leadoff homer, tying Frankie Crosetti for sixth place on the franchise's all-time list.
