Former Yankees right-handed pitcher Mike Mussina missed the cut for baseball's Hall of Fame Wednesday evening, earning only 43.0% of votes from the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
It was Mussina's third year on the ballot; in 2015 he earned 24.6%, so this go-round was an improvement, but still not enough to surpass the required 75 percent. (There were 440 ballots cast this year.)
Mussina pitched in the Bronx from 2001-'08 after starring in Baltimore with the Orioles for 10 years. Mussina won 270 games in his career and tossed 3,562.1 innings, striking out 7.
