MONTCLAIR — Former Yankees manager Joe Torre was vacationing with his wife, Ali, in Italy last week when he received news that his longtime friend Yogi Berra had passed away at the age of 90.
On Tuesday, Torre was one of hundreds of people who gathered at the Church of the Immaculate Conception to attend Berra's funeral. Torre honored the Hall of Fame catcher by delivering a touching eulogy at the beginning of the service.
"I got a call from [Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center director of special events] Joni [Bronander] and asked if I would do the eulogy," Torre said afterward.
