Former Yankees GM Bob Watson turned down lifesaving kidney donations

Former Yankees player and general manager Bob Watson is fighting kidney disease. He undergoes dialysis several times a week and is in desperate need of a transplant. In an exclusive interview with Bill Madden of the NY Daily News, the 71-year-old reveals he has turned down donations, but for good reason.

“Both my kids offered to donate kidneys to me,” Watson said, “and I told them both the same thing: ‘I’ve had a good life and I don’t want to take a kidney from young people who really need them and still have their whole lives ahead of them.
