Baseball dreams came true Wednesday when eight winners of the Daily News/New York Yankees Field of Dreams contest raced onto the field with some of their favorite players at Yankee Stadium.
“It was crazy!” said Julie Dexter, 11, of Colonia, N.J., who accompanied third baseman Chase Headley. “He’s actually my favorite Yankee. It was unbelievable.”
The contest urged kids 8 to 14 to submit essays on the meaning of Yankees tradition to them.
Cooper Antonucci, 9, of the Upper East Side, was paired with outfielder Chris Young.
“It was really fun, a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” he said after walking off the field.
