Ex-Yankees catching prospect Peter O'Brien has developed a case of the yips and is taking a month off from working behind the plate to "clear his head," Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale told MLB.com's Steve Gilbert.
"He's playing the outfield, he'll play a little first," Hale reportedly said. "I think they are waiting about a month to get him back in there. Just to kind of clear his head and let him get off to a good offensive start."
O'Brien had trouble in the middle of March, during spring training, throwing the ball back to the pitcher and to the third baseman after strikeouts, according to a report by Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.
