Former Yankees and Rangers closer John Wetteland was indicted Thursday on three charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, the Dallas Morning News reported.
The 52-year-old Wetteland, who was the 1996 World Series MVP with the Yankees, had been arrested in January after he allegedly forced a relative to perform sex acts on him multiple times, the report said, beginning in 2004, when the child was only 4.
Wetteland posted $25,000 bond at the time and was released after being taken into custody, but his legal trouble is not over.
Wetteland retired from baseball in 2000 and briefly served as the Nationals pitching coach in 2006 before a midseason firing.
