Former Yankees pitcher Esteban Loaiza pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges he smuggled and possessed more than 20 pounds of cocaine.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the district attorney prosecuting the case had the bail for Loaiza raised to $250,000, successfully arguing the former MLB pitcher is a flight risk because of his significant financial assets and his ties to Mexico.

Loaiza faces up to 20 years and eight months in prison if he is convicted of all felony charges.
