ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Even the best bats have bad days.

Unfortunately for the Yankees, their dead wood Saturday wasted a strong outing by CC Sabathia against the Rays.

The Yankees entered the game with the best batting average (.303) and OPS (.911) with runners in scoring position in the major leagues, but they didn’t take advantage of several chances to score, going 1-for-12 in the clutch.
