MIAMI - Nathan Eovaldi may have been pitching for the Yankees, but Tuesday night was one of the best starts he ever had for the Marlins.
Miami's hitters destroyed their former teammate, scoring eight runs against Eovaldi in the first inning, the first time in the team's 23-year history it scored that many runs in the opening frame.
David Phelps didn't have nearly as much trouble against his former team, pitching seven strong innings against the Yankees as the Marlins cruised to a 12-2 victory and a sweep of the two-game set at Marlins Park.
