On the night of Giancarlo Stanton’s long-awaited return to Yankee Stadium, Edwin Encarnacion officially announced his arrival to The Bronx.
After going hitless in his first six at-bats in pinstripes, Encarnacion slugged his first home run with the Yankees — and American League-leading 22nd of the year — in the team’s 6-3 win over the Rays on Tuesday night.
The 36-year-old designated hitter, appearing in his second game since being acquired from Seattle over the weekend, has recorded a home run on nine of his 12 hits this month, marking the most homers he’s hit in a month since August 2017 (10, with Cleveland).
