Garrett Jones is back with the Yankees.
The left-handed hitter was designated for assignment after Dustin Ackley was acquired from the Mariners last week, but Jones was brought back Wednesday — one day after Ackley was placed on the disabled list with a herniated disk.
“It made sense,” Jones said of returning to his former team. “It was a good fit. They really wanted me back. It was hard to say no. My heart was still here with teammates and coaching staff, fans and everybody. I had to come back and want to contribute and help this team win.
