Luis Severino and Aaron Judge began this season as consensus top-75 prospects and were promoted in the last month from Double- to Triple-A on merit.
Though that sounds like a standard progression, it hasn’t been for the Yankees. A joke too often was told that the Yankees were great at hyping their youngsters but that Double-A was like midnight in “Cinderella” — prospects became pumpkins. Lots of Bronx dreams died 75 miles away in Trenton.
That might be changing. The Yankees’ farm system is improving — and that is not coming from any hype machine within pinstriped walls.
