Donald Trump, the New Yorker, has taken a particular liking to the Yankees’ newest slugger.
Asked about where his New York baseball preferences lie during an appearance on the “Bernie & Sid” show Friday morning, the president avoided choosing a side but did add to the heightened expectations placed on Giancarlo Stanton. Even though Stanton has started the season with 13 in 27 plate appearances, and has heard boos in two home games thus far, Trump believes he can do no wrong.
“The Yankees, what they did with Stanton, famous last words but that’s the player that almost can’t fail,” Trump, who was born and raised in Queens, said on the new WABC-AM show with Sid Rosenberg and Bernard McGuirk.
