At this point last year, no one would have guessed that Domingo German would be the Yankees’ best starter in 2019. In fact, nobody would have guessed that in spring training. Yet, here he is.
German had another good outing, allowing just one run in seven innings. He ran into trouble a couple times, allowing six hits on the day. He continued to get swings and misses, however, striking out seven hitters, with three of those coming with runners on base. The offense didn’t have a great night following this afternoon’s home-run derby, but they didn’t need to.
