Alex Rodriguez may say he’s “at peace” with whatever his Yankees future holds, but Dwight Gooden thinks otherwise.
“It’s tough being a former athlete,” Gooden said Tuesday at Citi Field. “You could have all the money, it doesn’t matter if you’re not on the field. The bottom line is you want to play.
“I know he’s saying all the right things. But inside, it’s got to be eating him up. Plus, he’s so close to 700 [home runs]. It’s very tough.”
Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said Tuesday on ESPN Radio that while he hadn’t discussed releasing Rodriguez, “We’re gonna analyze everything and look at all options.
