MINNEAPOLIS — The Yankees did just enough Thursday night to avoid what could have been an embarrassing loss in a roller coaster in which they've looked like pretenders more than contenders.
Through five innings at Target Field, they were down a run to a club that's on pace for 113 losses and being shut out on two hits by a winless pitcher who entered with a 6.49 ERA.
As the old saying goes, all's well that ends well.
The Yankees rallied for a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Twins, ending a losing streak at four games.
