SAN DIEGO — Two seasons into retirement, Yankees great Derek Jeter finally is giving up bachelorhood at age 42 this Sunday when he marries 26-year-old supermodel Hannah Davis in Napa Valley, Calif.
What does Jeter need to know about taking the plunge?
Yankees manager Joe Girardi, who has been married since 1990, was asked before Friday night's game what he'd tell Jeter.
"The advice is it's very rewarding, but it's work," Girardi said. "Marriage is work and you gotta work at it."
Girardi and Jeter go way back. They were teammates for Jeter's first four seasons in the majors (1996-99), then Girardi was manager for the shortstop's final seven seasons (2008-14).
