Derek Jeter’s fond, funny memories of Yogi Berra

Derek Jeter, who retired after the 2014 season, penned a tribute to Yogi Berra on his Players’ Tribune website Tuesday — including hilarious moments he shared with the catcher.

In the Yankees training room one day, Jeter recalled playfully teasing Berra that his 10 world titles were worth less than his because there were no American League playoffs back in Yogi’s playing days.

“If you’re having trouble with math,” said Berra, face down on a training not bothering to look up, “you can come over to my house and count the rings yourself.”

Then in another light-hearted moment with a young Jeter mired in a hitting slump, the captain remember the sage advice Berra offered.
