Derek Jeter to exploding Yankee Stadium: Thank you

Of course the rain held off. “2” perfect, as always.

On a partly cloudy night in The Bronx, the Yankees trotted out just about anyone who has ever seen Derek Jeter play in a moving retirement ceremony on Sunday night, before they played the nightcap of their doubleheader.

After announcing all the stars — everyone from Joe Torre to the remaining Core Four to Don Zimmer’s widow, Soot — Jeter was carted in with wife Hannah Davis as the Stadium serenaded them with cheers and Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.”

On the infield grass, the Yankees unveiled the plaque for Derek Sanderson Jeter, with broadcaster Michael Kay listing off his many accomplishments — the 3,465 hits, the 14 All-Star Games, the five World Series rings.
