Yankee fans may soon be able to meet outside the Bronx stadium at the corner of Jeter Street and Rivera Avenue.
Cary Goodman, who runs the area’s business improvement district, is petitioning City Council to rename East 161st Street between Gerard and River avenues after the retired Yankees shortstop.
“If the NYC Council approves the request, Rivera Avenue and Jeter Street will form baseball’s most prestigious intersection,” Goodman said.
Jeter’s fellow former Bomber Mariano Rivera got the corner of River Avenue and East 161st Street named after him in 2013.
“In Jeter’s case, he’s so uniquely a part of the Bronx.
