Depleted Yankees lineup shows concerns in extra-inning loss

TORONTO — With three destructive right-handed sluggers not in the lineup Friday night, the Yankees didn’t have enough firepower to move closer to their first AL East title in seven years.

Edwin Encarnacion and Gary Sanchez are shelved with oblique and groin injuries, respectively, and Aaron Boone opted to rest Aaron Judge against former Mets lefty prospect Anthony Kay after the right fielder played each end of a doubleheader Thursday when he crashed into an outfield wall.

As the game against the Blue Jays dragged on into a 12th inning, Boone used Judge to hit for Tyler Wade, but he struck out.
