The Yankees released outfielder Chris Denorfia on Sunday after he opted out of his Minor League contract.
New York signed Denorfia at the beginning of March to add depth to the outfield if injury occurred.
Denorfia, a 10-year veteran who's played with the Reds, A's, Padres, Mariners and Cubs, is a career .272 hitter.
