Déjà vu all never again: Yogi Berra, RIP

Lawrence Peter “Yogi” Berra — one of the greatest Yankees ever — died of natural causes Tuesday evening at the age of 90.

Born in St. Louis, Berra became a one-of-a-kind quintessential New Yorker whose “Yogi-isms” — brain-twisting quasi-philosophical aphorisms — actually started to make sense once you thought about them too much.

But first and foremost, there was the ballplayer: With a record 10 World Series rings from the ’40s and ’50s — nearly 40 percent of all Yankee championships — he participated in nearly two dozen Fall Classics as player, manager or coach.
