The Phillies landed a key free agent with whom the Yankees were involved. No, not that one.
David Robertson is going to Philadelphia on a two-year deal worth $23 million, with a 2021 club option, MLB.com first reported.
Robertson, who finished last season with a 3.23 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 69 2/3 innings, will help solidify the Philadelphia bullpen. It’s a nice splash as the Phillies, White Sox and Yankees await Manny Machado’s decision.
Robertson’s appeal to the Yankees may have dimmed after he chaired the season-ending, players-only meeting to determine postseason shares for clubhouse attendants.
