WASHINGTON — All David Ortiz wants for the second half is a few more wins over the Red Sox’s historic rivals.
“We’re going to try to play better against the Yankees, I’ve got to tell you that,” the Red Sox’s retired icon said Sunday.
Ortiz, managing the World Team for the Futures Game at Nationals Park, works as a special assistant for the Fenway Sports Group, the Sawx’s parent company. After ending his playing career in 2016, Big Papi stepped away from the game a little in 2017. His return to the fold has him admiring his old team … and eyeing his old rivals warily.
