Clint Frazier makes case to stay with his glove, bat and mouth

Clint Frazier is hoping he has done enough to stick around a little longer.

Aaron Boone threw him a test Thursday by batting him leadoff and sticking him in center field — both major-league firsts — and Frazier came through, going 2-for-4 with a run as the Yankees finished off a sweep of the Mariners, 4-3.

Frazier’s status in pinstripes could be in question once Brett Gardner (knee) is deemed fully healthy — Boone said he expected him to be good for Friday’s series opener in Tampa Bay — but that hasn’t stopped the 23-year-old redhead from trying to do anything he can to stay.
