Clint Frazier’s roller-coaster ride of a season will bring him back to western Pennsylvania.
The Yankees sent their young outfielder down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in order to make room for the recently acquired Edwin Encarnacion, manager Aaron Boone announced after Sunday’s 10-4 win over the White Sox.
Frazier’s demotion doesn’t come as much of a surprise — unlike Gio Urshela, Kendrys Morales and Cameron Maybin, Frazier won’t need to pass through waivers. It was expected the Yankees would send their potential trade chip back down once Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge returned from injuries, and Monday’s arrival of Encarnacion, whom the Yankees traded for Saturday night, only expedited the process.
