City Council Speaker ‘offended’ by Yankees trading for troubled pitcher

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito ripped the Yankees on Tuesday for acquiring all-star closer Aroldis Chapman, who is under investigation for an alleged domestic-violence incident.

“As a woman, I’m offended by it,” she said of the Yankees’ deal with Chapman, 27. “It’s very disturbing.”

Mark-Viverito said she is considering personally boycotting the team and not going to any games in protest.

The Yankees acquired Chapman in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.

Chapman’s girlfriend has told police that the left-handed pitcher “choked” her and pushed her against a wall during an argument at his Miami-area home in October.
