Sorry Yankees fans, Shohei Ohtani is a most deserving winner of the AL Rookie of the Year award, announced Monday night by the BBWAA.
This was a no-brainer and it wasn’t close.
While the Yankees had two strong candidates in Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres, Ohtani was two players in one for the Angels, something not seen in nearly 100 years, since the early pitching and hitting days of Babe Ruth.
That is too much in my book, even though Ohtani did not play as many games as Andujar.
This is about sudden impact.
