WASHINGTON — With a depleted starting rotation and a lineup that now finds itself without Jacoby Ellsbury, the Yankees have virtually no margin for error.
And that makes Chase Headley’s continued struggles at third base all the more damaging, since the Yankees hardly can afford to give away outs — or, in Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to the Nationals — runs.
But Headley’s latest miscue — his ninth of the season — allowed Wilson Ramos to reach against Adam Warren and the catcher came around to score on Denard Span’s single off Justin Wilson through a drawn-in infield for the lead run.
