ANAHEIM, Calif — Yankees veteran left-hander CC Sabathia starts Wednesday night against the Angels needing six strikeouts to reach 3,000 and three victories shy of 250. Outside of Roger Clemens, who is still on the ballot, no pitcher who has reached the milestones isn’t in the Hall of Fame.
“Getting it out of the way early would be great,’’ Sabathia said of the reaching 3,000 whiffs early in his final big league season. “It’s not something I am focusing on. I making sure I stay healthy enough to help the team win.’’
Sabathia, whose family is flying in from New Jersey and has friends and family coming from his hometown of Vallejo, Calif.
