Allen cleared waivers Monday and was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Allen will remain in camp as a non-roster invitee. With a career .239/.298/.343 slash line through 221 major-league games, it’s no surprise he passed through waivers, though he’d likely avoid embarrassing himself if the Yankees call on him at some point down the line.
Cash sure does play the waiver wire correctly. Allen is no great shakes, but he’s fine for controllable depth.
