NEW YORK -- After going 21 games without hitting a home run, Brett Gardner snapped the streak in the fifth inning against Texas on Friday to put the Yankees on the scoreboard.
Gardner launched a 93-mph fastball from Rangers starter Mike Minor into the Yankees bullpen in right-center field, cutting New York's deficit to 5-1.
The long ball was Gardner's 10th of the season, making him the Yankees' eighth player to reach double digits this year. Entering Friday, the Yankees had gone 22-3 in games where Gardner has hit a home run since 2017.
