One day before receiving a visit from free agent Manny Machado, Carlos Beltran confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday that he has been named special adviser to GM Brian Cashman.
Beltran played for the Yankees from 2014 through 2016. He is managed by Dan Lozano, who is also Machado´s agent.
During his 20-year-playing career, the 41-year-old Puerto Rico native made nine All-Star Game selections, won three Gold Glove Awards, and earned the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 1999. He won a World Series championship with the Houston Astros in 2017, after which he retired from the game.
